RENO, Nev. (AP) – A lawyer for the Reno Air Racing Association says it’s working with attorneys for several families of victims of September’s deadly crash to try to settle their lawsuits out of court.

Michael McQuillum told a U.S. magistrate in Reno on Wednesday that officials brought in renowned mediator Ken Feinberg to help resolve claims stemming from the crash that killed 11 people including Hutchinson High School graduate Cheri Elvin. The crash also injured 4 other family members.

Elvin was visiting the Reno Air Races with her Husband, Chuck, a 1955 graduate of Haven High School, their sons Bill and Brian Elvin and their daughter-in-law Linda Elvin, when a plane lost control and crashed into the grandstands. Chuck, Bill, Brian and Linda were among the 70 hurt in the crash
