A 25-year-old Hutchinson man suffered minor burns Thursday afternoon while using a grill near his garage in east Hutchinson.

According to Hutchinson Battalion Chief Darin Gehring, Sean Moore of 3500 East 8th, was attempting to put out the fire that escaped from the grill and onto the dry grass. He says it then caught the siding of the garage on fire.

Moore burned his hands slightly as he attempted to put the fire out. Gehring says it wasn’t serious with it looking like he had a slight sunburn. Fire units arrived and finished the job of putting the fire out.

The incident reported around 2 p-m according to Gehring.
