CHENEY, Kan. — A man drowned in a small pond near Cheney Reservoir Sunday morning.

Divers found the body of Aaron Travis around 9:30 after the small boat he was in tipped over while he and a friend were duck hunting. Rescuers were called around 8:20 a.m. to the report of people in the water at a private pond at Fidelity Farms about two miles south of the reservoir.

The other man swam to shore unharmed, but Travis was unable to make it according to the Sedgwick Co. Sheriff’s Department.
