County Commission approves items on the agenda

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The County Commission made quick work of the regular agenda items Tuesday morning approving all the items associated with the closing of Mohawk Road.

That included placing a stop sign at Blanchard and Mohawk once the road is closed. They also approved agreements with both Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific for the closing of the at grade railroad crossing at Mohawk and Blanchard Southwest.

They also approved allowing Reno County Fire District Seven to purchase a fire truck and other equipment at a cost of $35,000. The funds are already available, so the purchase would not add anything to the county budget.

They also granted permission for the Reno County Sheriff’s Department to purchase a new 2016 Ford F-150 crew cab 4 x4 from Midwest Superstore in Hutchinson at a cost after trade of just under $12,000.

And they approved the closing of a small portion of 56th between Mayfield and Kent Roads. Something that the homeowners on both sides were in favor of.
