A 28-year-old Hutchinson man who was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding a police officer, reckless driving, and attempt to eldue a police officer was in court Monday for a first appearance in the case.
Police accused Todd Lloyd of the charges after he allegedly failed to stop for a Hutchinson officer on K-61 at Avenue G. The chase apparently continued into South Hutchinson where the officer was told to terminate the pursuit.
However, another officer observed the same vehicle driving at a high rate of speed at Avenue E and Main in South Hutchinson, and failed to stop at the intersection. The officer then turned his lights and siren on and the vehicle traveled in a residential area of South Hutchinson. The driver then turned north on Adams and then west on Avenue D and eventually turned into a driveway in the 400 block of East D in South Hutchinson. They says he then proceeded north, turned east into a field and wrecked in a drainage ditch. He then reportedly ran east from the vehicle.
The officers say they found a female passenger in the car, Allecia Deuel who was injured and taken to Promise Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was arrested for a probation violation for convictions which include Reno drug charges from 1996 and 2009. But, according to the jail log, she also faces two charges of identity theft, two counts of destroying a written instrument, two counts of forgery, and two counts of theft.
Lloyd was found hiding under a small tree directly in front of the vehicle. He was also taken to Promise Regional Medical Center for treatment, then taken to jail. Lloyd was also arrested for violating the conditions of his release on parole, conditional release or post release supervision.
He’s listed as an absconder according to the Kansas Department of Corrections website. He is no stranger to the law having served time for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, burglary, contributing to a child’s misconduct, felony theft, criminal use of a weapon, aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child, aggravated escape from custody, and felony flee and elude. Most of the convictions are from a Reno County case from 2001, but the aggravated escape occurred in Leavenworth County in 2004, and the flee and elude occurring in Reno County in 2008.
The new case against Lloyd occurring between around 1:44 a-m Saturday morning.
Amazingly, considering his past criminal history, Lloyd’s bond is only set at 6-thousand, 750-dollars and he is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday. Deuel’s bond sat 7-thousand.
