Suspects in Kwik Shop robbery formally charged (update)

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The four suspects for the Kwik Shop robbery and a local burglary case were back before a judge on Tuesday where they were read the formal charges.

18-year-old Dakota Ney, 19-year-old Karl Koenig, 20-year-old Kurt Koenig and 19-year-old Drake Lindsay are charged with two alternate counts of aggravated robbery for different theories of the crime, aggravated battery, non-residential burglary and felony theft.

After the robbery of the Kwik Shop, detectives of the Hutchinson Police Department executed two search warrants in reference to the robbery on Jan. 27 and a burglary at a south side Smoke Shop back on Feb. 1. The female clerk was severely beaten by the suspects during the robbery at the convenience store.

Bonds in the case were set at $125,000 for each defendant and the cases against the four now moves to a waiver-status docket.
