The Skilled Nursing Unit at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center recently received a zero deficiency survey during their annual survey by the Kansas Department on Aging. Surveyors spent one week assessing patient care on the unit. During this comprehensive evaluation of all procedures on the unit, they observe medication administration, care procedures, documentation, dietary and laundry service, cleanliness and safety.

“We have a talented team at Hutchinson Regional who work hard everyday to ensure exceptional care and treatment for our patients,” said Kevin Miller, president and CEO. “I’m incredibly proud of our Skilled Nursing Unit staff for receiving a zero deficiency rating and believe it’s a testament to their excellence in working with our elder generation. They are dedicated to helping patients regain their health and achieve the highest level of independence, strength and mobility.”

It is not typical for surveyors to find zero deficiencies during a weeklong site visit. In 2010, only 6.2 percent of those surveyed in Kansas were found deficiency free. “This achievement places Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in the top tier of survey performances,” reported the Kansas Department on Aging.
