Hutchinson High School Wall of Honor nominations open

Nominations are being taken for the 14th annual Wall of Honor at Hutchinson High School.

The program, a joint venture of the Hutchinson High School Student Council, the Renaissance Club and the HHS Alumni Association, recognizes three outstanding graduates of Hutchinson High School each year.

Hutch High has a wide range of graduates who are honored on the wall. The 39 previous recipients include local community leaders who changed Hutchinson to internationally known scientists and business professionals to the first woman on the Kansas State Board of Agriculture to media professionals.

Currently, the groups are accepting nominations for the Wall of Honor. A nominee has to be a Hutchinson High School graduate and have graduated at least 10 years prior to the nomination. The nominee must have attained a high level of achievement in at least one of the following areas. Personal and/or professional life, community service, and demonstrated that education is a life-long experience,

The award may be bestowed on individuals posthumously.

Nominations are due Feb. 17 and forms are available in the Hutchinson High School office, 810 East 13th or online at www.usd308.com. The nomination form asks for basic biographical information, including lists of volunteer activities, special awards received and any supporting documentation, such as newspaper clippings. Additionally, the person making the nomination must write a paragraph explaining why the nominee deserves the honor.

A selection committee will pick three alumni for the 14th class to go on the wall.

The Wall of Honor alumni will be recognized at a dinner in April.

Each winner receives a personal plaque and another plaque will be permanently mounted inside the lobby of the Salthawk Activity Center.
