HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Although the representatives of a sporting goods chain has not made an official announcement, the Hutchinson Mall Facebook page has a posting that a sporting goods store is hiring for all positions. Dunham’s Sports, located in Michigan, could be bringing its large chain of stores to the mall.

The store appears to be the one that owners of the mall announced would be moving into the old Sears location. The company also announced Monday that it will open another store in Wisconsin, where it has a large presence.

Dunham’s Sports is a regional retail chain with offices located in Troy, Mich. Dunham’s has more than 200 stores in 19 states. The store specializes in athletic equipment, clothing, guns and other sports-related items. It started in 1937 as Dunham’s Bait and Tackle.

Work is also under way on the old Dillard’s store. A beauty supply store has already applied for a building permit to renovate a portion of that space.
