HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 32-year old man who was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threat and criminal damage and granted community corrections is in more trouble.

Deandre Pannell could still face two years, three months in prison for allegedly violating his two years of community corrections.

He was arrested on a number of warrants Wednesday and was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and hydrocodone. He’s also been charged by the state with failing to register as a violent offender back in February.

The assault case involves an incident on July 5, 2013, when Pannell took a vehicle that didn’t belong to him. When the victims in the case confronted him to get the vehicle back, he allegedly came out of the vehicle, then broke a window in a van the victims were in and threatened them with a hatchet.

He also faces a probation violation in this case, meaning he could be sent to prison, added to that possible new charges for being in possession of the drugs and the new charge of failing to register.

He should be back in court on the new arrest next week.
