HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 School Board Monday took the first steps to sell the 2015-16 Building Trades Program home.

The board formally declared the house as “surplus,” allowing it to be sold. The asking price for the home will be $285,000. The asking price was based on three separate market analysis.

Located at 2809 Morris St. on the city’s northwest side, the district will attempt to sell the home without contracting a realtor initially by posting sale information in the newspaper and on district social media.

In other action, the board approved an out-of-state student activity request to allow SkillsUSA state winners from the Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy to attend nationals in late June at Louisville, Ky.

They also approved the $105,000 to purchase library books for all the district schools. The money, coming from at-risk funds, amounts to $21.32 per student at each school.

Also approved was the resurfacing of the 23rd Avenue parking lot at the Salthawk Sports Complex and the replacement of the chiller at Hutchinson Middle School – 8.
