HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week in two cases and will be arraigned on the charges next month.

In one case, Jacob Elzey was arrested along with 21-year-old Mariah D. Lyddane and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of prescription drugs with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, felony theft or, in the alternative, possession of stolen property, no driver’s license and misdemeanor theft.

The two were arrested in the 400 block of East 4th after they were allegedly in a stolen Ford Ranger. That was on July 6, 2015.

In the other case, Elzey is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, distribution of amphetamine, possession of prescription drugs with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, personal use drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement and criminal damage.

He was arrested back in January of 2015 along with Nicole Moore in the 500 block of North Van Buren. Apparently, an officer saw the two in a vehicle and they both attempted to flee when the officer stopped the vehicle and broke a fence in the process. Elzey is then alleged to have given a different name to officers. This allegedly occurred on Jan. 31, 2015.

With him waiving his preliminary hearing, he’ll be arraigned on the charges June 5 in front of Judge Tim Chambers.
