HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A new rate increase for vehicle registrations will take effect July 1, 2016.
The additional $3.25 will be added per vehicle for law enforcement training. These monies will be split into two areas. $2.00 will go to the Kansas Highway Patrol and a $1.25 will go to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Yoder.
Because of this change, Reno County Treasure Jan Hull says July renewal notices will not be mailed until after July 1st.
If you mail in your renewal and they don’t receive it in the office prior to July 1, they’ve been instructed to send it back and request the additional $3.25 per vehicle. She says post mark dates do not apply to this increase. Anything they receive as of July 1, will include the $3.25 fee, no exceptions.
If you are a July renewal, you can renew your vehicles prior to July 1, in other words do it now.
