HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The move of county departments is in full swing with the Reno County Clerks office pretty much moved to the new renovated annex. They expect to reopen in the new location on Wednesday.

Then it will be the County Appraiser’s Office turn which will start the move on Wednesday. The County Treasure’s Office will then start the move on July 13 and after that, the final department to move will be that Register of Deeds.

Harlen Depew head of maintenance for the county says they’re working to get things up and running for the Clerks Office to open. They plan to have a signage stating that its open to try and keep things from getting to complicated.

The renovation of the annex building was part of the $29-million bond issue past by voters for building the new county jail. The renovated space at one time housed county jail inmates. The cost for this project was at around $2,290,000. County Administrator Gary Meagher told us last week that they’re pretty much right on budget for this project.

The county also have bids out for renovating part of the Law Enforcement Center and also the secure entrance to the courthouse which are the next two projects as part of the bond issue.

All four departments should be moved to what they are calling the Reno County Courthouse Annex by the end of next month.
