HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Reno County jury found a 27-year-old man accused of aggravated kidnapping “not guilty” of that charge, but “guilty” of a lesser included offense of criminal restraint.

Arthur Pina Jr. was also found guilty of battery-domestic violence, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The victim testfied that she was with Pina and they apparently got into an argument over marijuana and also a phone call he received from another woman. She admitted that they were driving around smoking marijuana that day and, as the argument escalated, she wanted to leave his vehicle. She told the jury that he wouldn’t let her go and at one point had her in a headlock and allegedly punched her in her right eye. They were driving on K-61 and he finally stopped to let her out on an exit ramp.

When police made contact with Pina, they discovered the drugs, that the being a blue Q-tips container with three small bags of cocaine as well as some pipes, scales and other paraphernalia.

All this occurred on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015.

With the guilty verdicts, Judge Tim Chambers set sentencing for July 29.
