About 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, Hutchinson Fire crews responded to the area of West 17th and Jefferson for a vehicle fire. This was for an RV in close proximity to a house. When units arrived on scene, there were flames that reached above the roof line of the two story apartment.

Do to the amount of fire, more units responded, but the initial unit was able to make a quick knockdown of the RV fire while two other engines checked for extension into the structure. All other units were canceled.

No damage was noted to the structure. The RV was a total loss. Damage estimates are at $1500.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an engine malfunction in the RV.

Hutchinson Fire responded 6 units with 3 staying on scene for about an hour.
