NEWTON, Kan. – One person died after he ran from Newton Police, however the officers had no contact with the individual until an ambulance was called to a home in that city.
It started at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night when a police unit occupied by two officers made a traffic stop in an alley on the east side of Newton. One male, and one female ran from the scene. One officer remained at the scene with the vehicle and other occupants involved. The second officer was able to pursue the female, taking her into custody.
