HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 30-year-old man who faces a hearing to possibly revoke his community corrections has been formally charged over an altercation in Nickerson.

Benito Montalbo has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and criminal threat.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, Montalbo got into a confrontation back on June 25 with two individuals after one of them allegedly told him to slow down as he was driving by. He allegedly, at some point during the altercation, pulled a knife and threatened others with it. He’s also alleged to have threatened to come back later with a gun.

Bond for Montalbo was set earlier at $15,500 and he was able to post bond and was in court Wednesday for the reading for formal charges.

He’s on corrections for drug-related charges as well as driving while suspended. The hearing is scheduled Friday in front of Judge Trish Rose after being continued last week.
