Arrest made after drug-related search in Newton

NEWTON, Kan. — A drug-related search warrant was executed at 127 Lakeview Dr. in Newton.

This warrant was also based on numerous complaints of illicit drug activity occurring at the residence. An investigation into this property showed the tenant, identified as Teresa Kennedy, was allegedly involved in various illegal drug activities to include methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription medications.

During the execution of the warrant, she and her son, Joshua Kennedy, were taken into custody and booked into the Harvey County Detention Center. During the search, methamphetamine, marijuana and a large amount of prescription medication were seized.

Subsequent to this search, a wanted person identified as Lorita Dorris-Lyons, who was walking to the residence, was apprehended. The investigation also lead them to a man, identified as Nathaniel Barnella. He had been arrested numerous other times for drug-related offenses in Newton. Barnella was apprehended attempting to sell methamphetamine and acquire prescription medications to redistribute in the community.

It will be up to the Harvey County Attorney to decide what charges these individuals will face.
