Three vehicle accident kills Geneso man

LYONS – The condition of three children injured in a three vehicle accident in Rice County, that killed a Geneseo man, have improved at a Wichita hospital.

6-year-old Courtney Stansbury, 10-year-old, Anna Stansbury and 3-year-old Ella Stansbury were all transported to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition following the accident. Anna is now listed in fair condition while Courtney and Ella are now in serious condition.

Rice County officials say Michael Mason of Geneseo was driving north bound on K-14 about 3-miles north of Lyons just before 6 p-m, Sunday evening when he lost control of his pickup truck on the icy road, crossed the center line and hit a sport utility vehicle in the southbound lane driven by 36-year-old Mark Stansbury of Lorraine. A third vehicle, a pickup truck driven by 59 year old Chris Hamilton of Fredrick, was also involved.

Mason was pronounced dead at the scene. Stansbury his wife Lucy and the and the four children including the three mentioned in the SUV where hurt. Hamilton and his passenger escaped injury.
Mark Stansbury, suffered non life- threatening injuries, Lucy Stansbury was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment. The fourth child in the Stansbury, vehicle, 6-year-old Carter Stansbury, was treated and released.
