Inman man busted on drug-related charges makes court appearance

Richard Manwarren Jr. 6

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 28-year-old Inman man well known to law enforcement was picked up over the weekend in Hutchinson on drug-related charges after he was stopped and arrested on a municipal court warrant.

Richard Manwarren II faces possible charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of opiates, opium and other narcotics.

He allegedly had 8 grams of meth, a digital scale, as well as other drugs, including Hydrocodone.

The arrest came just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of South K-61.

His bond was set at $17,500 and, in court, he asked for a reduction, which the state opposed because of prior convictions. That includes two convictions for aggravated battery, two convictions for violation of a protection from abuse order, aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim and burglary. He had been discharged from the Kansas Department of Corrections on May 1.

But Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen agreed to lower it some to $15,000.

Manwarren will be back in court on July 25 for the formal reading of charges.
