HUTCHINSON, Kan. — We knew it could be coming when Texas-based Hastings Entertainment filed for bankruptcy and said it would close all 126 retail stores if it couldn’t find a buyer within 30 days.

Well the store in Hutchinson is one of the locations that will be closing. A check of its website only states stores will be closing with 30 percent off of merchandise. There were also individuals seen on Main and 30th holding signs indicating the closing.

The retailer sells movies, music, video games, books and pop culture items and said the reorganization filing included its parent company, Draw Another Circle, and sister brands Movie Stop and SPImages.

This is the second retailer in the process of closing on 30th. Kmart has been having a going out of business sale for some time now.

That means there will be plenty of retail space on 30th with the vacant area that used to be home of the Dillons store, Ineeda Cleaners and a retail liquor store.

Now, Kmart’s building will be vacant as well as the Hastings space.
