HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 27-year-old man of criminal restraint, battery-domestic violence, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia was granted one year of probation Friday.

Arthur Pina Jr. was granted the corrections on a one year and eight month sentence.

The victim testified at trial that she was with Pina and they apparently got into an argument over marijuana and also a phone call he received from another woman. She admitted that they were driving around smoking marijuana that day and, as the argument escalated, she wanted to leave his vehicle. She told the jury that he wouldn’t let her go and at one point had her in a headlock and allegedly punched her in her right eye. They were driving on K-61 and he finally stopped to let her out on an exit ramp.

When police made contact with Pina, they discovered the drugs, that the being a blue Q-tips container with three small bags of cocaine as well as some pipes, scales and other paraphernalia.

All this occurred on Nov. 1, 2015.

The sentencing was handed down by Judge Tim Chambers.
