Man involved in stabbing incident granted bond reduction

Derren Lovell 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 46-year-old man arrested on a charge of aggravated battery after he allegedly stabbed another man during an argument managed to get his bond reduced.

Derrin Lovell was arrested back on March 22 when police were called to the 500 block of East F on the report of a disturbance and discovered that the 43-year-old victim had been stabbed in the left forearm. The victim was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he was treated and given stitches.

His attorney argued that they have a strong defense in the case and believes the bond should be lowered while the state argued he has a criminal history score on “A” meaning a significant criminal history.

The bond was only $10,000, and Judge Trish Rose sided with the defense once again and agreed to lower it to $5,000.

Trial in the case is set for Sept. 13.
