Reno County Commission approves contract with KDOT over bridge replacement

road-closed-2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The County Commission had an agenda item up for discussion only, but went ahead and passed it on Tuesday.

This has to do with an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation over them closing K-61 at Arlington to replace a bridge. They wanted permission to use Sego Road as a detour for six miles north to U.S. 50.

The state would pay the county monthly installments of $16,976 during the time of construction, not to exceed 12 months.

The bridge is located on the northeast side of Arlington. Sego Road runs north out of Arlington.

That would increase the traffic count on Sego Road from the current count of 375 vehicles per day to approximately 1200. That’s part of the reason for the compensation from KDOT.

The project is expected to begin sometime this year.
