HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Counties across the state will see one revenue source continue to go down after the legislature passed a law phasing out the Mortgage Registration tax. Reno County is no exception.

However, the county did collect more with this tax in July than it did in June, but just over $10,000 less than July of last year. The total for July was $26,349, compared to $36,353 in July of last year.

As for the registration fee, the county collected more in July of this year when compared to the same time last year. The July total was $22,263, compared to $19,402.

The year-to-date total for the two is $338,193. At this time last year, the county had collected just over $357,217.

Eventually, the county will not receive any money for the Mortgage Registration Tax.
