HUTCHINSON, Kan.— A community favorite, Hutch Rec’s Salty Dog & Salty Pup Triathlons, will take 
place this Saturday, Aug. 13 in Carey Park. Entrances into the park will be closed off or limited to traffic starting at 5 a.m. on event morning and lasting until the triathlon is complete, which is around 9:30 a.m. This year’s events feature more than 250 adults and 90 youth as they take on three events in Carey Park.

Adults competing in the Salty Dog will swim 400 meters in Salt City Splash Aquatic Center; bike 10.5 miles around the Carey Park Golf Course; and run a 5K along the Jim Martinez Trail, finishing outside the Homebuilder’s Shelter building. Youth (ranging in age from 6 to 15 years old) will swim 100 meters, bike 4.2 miles, and run 1 mile on a similar course.
This event also attracts more than 50 community volunteers, with all proceeds going to youth initiatives and programs sponsored by Hutch Rec.
