HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With a very tight budget and some costs that were more than expected, the Hutchinson Sports Arena is getting a nice boost from the American Legion.

The Legion, which has been the driving force behind the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament for many years, approached the Arena Building Committee about making a donation, or a purchase to benefit the arena. When bids for the audio/ visual equipment came in higher than expected, it left the project with just one video board so the Legion has decided that they will purchase a second one. The video boards will measure 9×16 feet and will be located at each end of the arena. The news of the donation was confirmed to hutchpost.com by tournament Chairman Jerry Ricksecker

Work on the arena continues and the project should be mostly completed by the 2017 tournament in March.
