HAYS – The Kansas Highway Patrol and Ellis County authorities closed the westbound lanes of I-70 about 2 miles outside of Hays Wednesday for roughly 30 minutes due to a RV that caught fire.

The truck was fully engulfed in flames, and smoke could be seen as far as 20 miles away.

There was a small explosion while fire crews were attempting to put out the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Fire crews put the fire out by 10:05 AM and the highway was eventually reopened.
