The Reno County Courthouse was closed for about an hour Friday after a male person called in a bomb threat.

Apparently, at around 12:30 p-m, Reno County 911 Dispatch was told by a male suspect indicated that he intended to bow the courthouse up.

They never found anything suspicious, and they even allowed courthouse employees back in at one point. Sheriff Randy Henderson said they allowed this because they needed keys for areas of the courthouse that are locked during the noon hour to be searched. Plus, they wanted the employees to get back into position, so when they opened the courthouse back up, employee’s would be able to assist citizens.

Henderson says they used standard procedures for this type of incident, but wouldn’t give specifics on what those procedures are.

He also wouldn’t give any specifics on the threat, as well as where employee’s would be taken during a threat like this.

But again, no device was found and the courthouse was back open shortly after 1:30 p-m.
