TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Transportation announced Friday that they plan to accelerate $50 million worth of preservation projects to produce jobs ahead of schedule and to take advantage of low construction costs currently available.

The 32-projects that will be advanced are included in the 10-year, $8 billion T-WORKS transportation program passed by the 2010 Legislature. They are part of the $4.2 billion set aside under T-WORKS for preservation, which includes work such as the repair and reconstruction of roads and bridges.

The list of projects includes some work in Reno County in what they are calling, light preservation, includes K-14 from the Kingman-Reno County line north to the K-14/K-61 junction at a cost of
$1,320,000

Then in Kingman County, more light preservation on K-14 from the K-14/US-54 junction north to the Kingman-Reno County Line at a cost of $899,658.

Also in Kingman County, light preservation work will be done on U-S 54 from the K-17/US-54 junction east to the Kingman-Sedgwick County Line at a cost of $2,130,240.
