HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Fire Department and Reno County EMS in conjunction with Hutchinson Airport were doing a mock aircraft accident at the Hutchinson Airport Wednesday afternoon.
There were numerous emergency vehicles operating in and around the airport. There was also outside county emergency vehicles participating. As part of the drill, patients were also being transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center to test the hospital’s emergency room patient surge capabilities as well.
Multiple ambulances were seen moving in and out of the emergency area near the hospital.
The airport remained open for normal aircraft operations throughout the exercise.
Extra crews were also employed to continue uninterrupted emergency service to Hutchinson and Reno County during the drill.
