HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Fire Department responded to 419 Liberty Wednesday evening for a structure fire reported by a passerby.

The initial arriving unit advised smoke showing from the attic area and initiated fire attack.

The fire was found on the main level of the home in an electrical box supplying an exterior outlet. The fire was contained to the area of origin and under control within minutes of arrival with an estimated structure and content damage of $13,000.

Crews remained on scene for about an hour and a half to complete salvage and overhaul procedures.

The fire reported around 7:25 p.m.
