The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team held Pratt to a negative hitting percentage for the
second time this season and earned a season sweep of the Beavers with a 3-0 victory in a Jayhawk West matchup on Wednesday night at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons doubled up the Beavers in kills (38-19) and rolled to a 25-17, 25-12, 25-18 victory. The Blue Dragons improve to 14-9 overall, but keep within striking distance of Colby and Seward County in the Jayhawk West at 7-2 in conference play.
Hutchinson’s defense limited Pratt to a negative-.012 on Wednesday en route to a second-straight sweep of the Beavers. Hutch held Pratt to a negative .021 in September at Pratt.
Right-side hitters Nadine Cruz and Nina Pevic led the Blue Dragons offensively on Wednesday.
Freshman Nadine Cruz had a match-high 10 kills on .444 hitting with two block assists to lead the Blue Dragons. Freshman Nina Pevic hit a season-high .500 with nine kills on 16 swings. Kyann Eslick, Page Hiebert and Hinalei Fihaki had five kills each.
Freshman setter Katie Jorn had 19 assists with a kill and a service ace. Freshman setter Nicole Rutherford had 15 assists with an ace. Freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Mulligan had a team-high 11 digs. Sophomore libero Mine Cetinoz had 10 digs. Fihaki had three blocks.
