PRATT – Sophomore Jordan Downing continued her climb up the Blue Dragon record books and reclaimed the national lead in goals scored as the No. 14 Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team overpowered the Pratt Beavers 11-0 in a Jayhawk West contest on Wednesday at the Pratt soccer field.

The Blue Dragons improve to 11-1 overall and remain unbeaten in Jayhawk West play at 6-0 and Region VI play at 7-0. Hutchinson’s next two games will be against Hesston College, the first meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at Hesston.

Hutchinson took control right away when Downing scored just 1 minute, 4 seconds into the game. Hutch had three goals in the first 7:10, five goals in the first 15:10 and led 7-0 at halftime.

Six different Blue Dragons scored goals and seven different players recorded assists as Hutchinson out-shot Pratt 53-0, putting 30 shots on goal.

Downing had a nine-point game with four goals and an assist to lead a relentless Blue Dragon attack. Downing posted her fourth hat trick of the season and seventh multi-goal game. Downing had her fourth game this season of nine points or more.

The Blue Dragon sophomore forward once again leads the NJCAA in goals scored with 27 goals and is again tied for the national lead in assists with 16. Her 70 points also leads the nation.

Downing moved past or tied Stephanie Franz on two career statistical charts. Downing is now No. 3 in career points (110) and is tied for third with Franz in career goals (26). Downing also became the fifth Blue Dragon in team history to score 70 points in a season. Downing also has seven career game-winning goals, which is third most in HCC soccer history.

Sophomore Jazmin Hartshorn had a six-point game with two goals and two assists, as did freshman Sheena Nicol. Sophomore Dayna Johnson, sophomore Jordan Smith and freshman Mikayla Moresco all had goals. Madison Pollack, Emilee Kreibehl, Johnson and Smith all had assists.

Freshman goal keeper Ashley Main (3-0) was credited with the win. Sophomore Caroline Howard played the second half. Neither keeper faced a shot as Hutchinson posted its seventh shutout of the season and 121st shutout in program history.

The 53 total shots taken tied for the 10th most in team history, tying the Garden City game on Sept. 14, 2009. The shot shots on goal taken tied for the seventh most, matching a game on Oct.21, 2006 against Coffeyville.

The Blue Dragons didn’t allow a shot on goal for the fourth time this season and the 29th time in program history. This was the 20th time in team history that an opponent didn’t cast a single shot in a game.
