Alcoa shows positive 3Q numbers as company split nears

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As it prepares to split into two separate companies, Alcoa today reported alcoa arconicpositive third quarter results.

The company plans to spin off its metals division with its product division starting November 1. At that time the Hutchinson finishing plant along with the rest of the products division will become Arconic.   

Arconic segments reported combined year-over-year profit growth, and Alcoa Corporation segments, maintained profitability despite continued low aluminum pricing by proactively managing costs and capacity.

As a whole, Alcoa reported third quarter 2016 net income of $166 million, or $0.33 per share, compare to net income of $44 million, or $0.06 per share in the third quarter of 2015. Excluding the impact of special items, third quarter 2016 net income was $161 million, or $0.32 per share.

Third quarter revenue totaled  $5.2 billion, down 6 percent year over year from $5.6 billion in the third quarter of 2015.
