City Council approves soft drink contract

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council gave approval to a new contract with Pepsi Soft Hutchinson City HallDrinks to provide beverages and support for the city’s facilities.

The new three-year contract covers the Sports Arena, Carey Park Golf Course, Hobart-Detter Field, Fun Valley, the Splash and Rice park. Total compensation to the city for the contract is around $39,000. The new contract replaces the current five-year contract that was to expire Dec. 31.

The Council also approved the new collective bargaining agreement with the union representing its service employees.

Under the new one-year agreement, employees will come under a new open pay range developed following a comprehensive compensation study completed this year.

Base pay rates will be in accordance with new minimums and maximums established for each job class. The new pay plan replaces the former step pay plan. Employees that are below the minimum pay rate will be brought to the new minimum pay rate at the start of the payroll year.

The Council will also consider a resolution to issue bonds for the expansion at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. The hospital is planning a $37 million expansion of its ICU facilities.
