The third suspect charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery was in court to hear the formal reading of charges, and he managed to get his half million dollar bond reduced to 300-hundred thousand.

But, 27-year-old Matthew Barnes will have to serve time for a previous drug conviction after Judge Trish Rose revoked his 50-thousand dollar appeal bond in that case. He was convicted in 2007 for the sale of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tax stamp, possession of drugs, and conspiracy to sell drugs. Barnes in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen was read the complaint and then taken back to jail, where he will most likely be sent to the Department of Corrections to serve the 84-months in the previous case.

As we have been telling you, 32-year-old Kylie Hartman and 34-year-old Jason Casanova are charged with the same crime, and they appeared on Wednesday. There bonds stayed the same.

The case against Barnes will also go to a waiver-status docket later this month.

The charge says that one of the conspirators drove the other two to the location where they believed the intended victim lived, namely someone with the initials K. R. One of the conspirators then armed themselves with the handgun, and one of the conspirators hid or destroyed the handgun after the failed aggravated robbery, and that one or more of the conspirators entered into the residence they believed K. R. was in.

Although the state won’t confirm or deny at this point that the case has anything to do with the murder of Jennifer Heckel, some of her family members were in the courtroom for the brief hearing.

The complaint only says only that it occurred in June of this year. Heckel was shot to death in her northwest Hutchinson home on June 14. She was at home with her small son, while her husband was working out of town. He was cleared of any suspicion, early on.
