HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Reno County Sheriff tax sale was this morning at Memorial Hall and County Counselor Joe O’Sullivan says after all 34 properties were sold, they came away with $64,797.00. They started with 85 properties on the list, but all but 34 either paid delinquent taxes or made arrangements to do so.
Some of the properties particularly in Hutchinson sold cheap, a couple for $1.00, another two for $5.00 and two for $10.00. O’Sullivan says that some of the properties will still have to pay more money coming up because of special assessments from the city for mowing, removing debris and doing other things on the property with any work prior to June 30. .
But, others sold for considerably more including a home at 715 West 13th, that sold for $14,000. That was the highest number paid for a property.
There of course will another sale in 2017 and O’Sullivan says there will be considerably more on the list next year then this year.
