HUTCHINSON, Kan. – This year’s Boo at the Zoo, a partnership between the Hutchinson Zoo and Eagle Radio’s Country 102.9 was held Saturday afternoon. It can only be described as a success and the warm weather was no doubt a factor.
Although, a little breezy, thousands attended the event which as always held at the Hutchinson Zoo in Carey Park and has been a Hutchinson tradition for nearly 30 years. Final total was 1,970 who attended.
The three hour event was a chance for families to bring their kids to visit the zoo and hit all the stations handing out candy as check out all the animals exhibits at the zoo.
In addition to the candy, there were games, train rides, hay rides, animal encounters even an up close look at spiders.
This event was made possible thanks to the generous support of Midwest Superstore who provided the event with the money to purchase the candy for this event.
We were also told the one of the board members of the zoo paid money so that everyone including adults could ride the train.
There were also other events in the area including the “Trunk or Treat” event in South Hutchinson. There were plenty of people at that event as well with officers with South Hutchinson Police and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office directing traffic in the area.
Sunday, there will be an event at the small park area just south of the Eagle Media Center’s studios, a partnership with Eagle Radio’s My 93.1 and Communities that Care. They were busy Saturday afternoon getting ready for this event as shown above.
This event will be from 3-5 p.m. and will included free popcorn & candy for everyone, and free coffee from Scuttlebutts, carnival games, face painting and pumpkinaries.
There will also be live music with Morgan Wilk and Reno County Law Enforcement will be there to interact with youth of the community.
That’s Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
