HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Judge Joe McCarville at the request of the state continued a hearing for a local man charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

District Attorney Keith Schroeder explained that Ricky Gossman also faces another hearing where the state will seek to have his community corrections revoked in another case. That hearing is scheduled in front of Judge Tim Chambers on Nov. 10.

Gossman had been placed on community corrections back in May for indecent solicitation of a child for an incident back in March of last year. Schroeder wants the sentence in that case served and moving the preliminary hearing in the indecent liberties case to the court of Judge Chambers would mean the state would only have to present evidence once with the victim possibly taking the stand.

In the latest case, Gossman is alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl between June 12, and July 25, of this year.

Hutchinson Police Juvenile Detective Scott Carlson told us earlier that they were notified that he may have been having sex with minor girls and so they started doing interviews that led to the arrest. Although he is only charged with one count, he may have been involved with others as well according to Carlson.

The charge in the new case is a level three person felony with a maximum sentence of around 20-years, however he could receive double the sentence under the persistent sex offender statute.

He’s free on a $50,000 bond and the hearing in both cases are now scheduled for Nov. 10.
