HUTCHINSON, Kan. – While most of the reports of gas prices are at $1.91 locally, Murphy’s USA continues to be the lowest we found in the Hutchinson area at $1.89.

That puts the prices locally below the state average which is at $1.94 according to Triple A Kansas.

The lowest price in the state is at Pittsburg in eastern Kansas where the price is $1.88. The price in Wichita is $1.92

We’re also well below the national average of $2.17.

These prices are good news as residents are now making plans to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

AAA Kansas projects that nearly 3.9 million in the West North Central region, of which Kansas is a part, will journey 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving, an increase of about 23,000 travelers compared with last year.
