Butler and Eastern Arizona to hook up in Salt City Bowl

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — For the second-straight year and fourth time overall the Salt City Bowl will feature a matchup of the Jayhawk Conference and Western States Football League.
No. 14 Butler Community College (7-4) will represent the Jayhawk in a December 3 matchup against thesaltcitybowl_logo WSFL’s Eastern Arizona College (8-3). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas.
This is the second year that the Jayhawk Conference and WSFL agreed to play each other in the Salt City Bowl. The Jayhawk Conference sends its highest ranked team not affiliated with another bowl. The WSFL sends its highest ranked team not affiliated with another bowl.
Butler finished in a four-way tie for second place in the Jayhawk Conference. This will be the Grizzlies’ first appearance in the Salt City Bowl and 27th appearance overall.
Eastern Arizona finished third in the WSFL this season. This will be the second appearance for the Gila Monsters in the Salt City Bowl. Hutchinson defeated Eastern Arizona 42-21 in 2010. EAC will be playing in its second NJCAA-sanctioned bowl game.
Butler enters the game averaging 24.3 points and 289.1 total yards offensively. The Grizzlies average 121.4 rushing yards and 167.7 passing yards. Defensively they are allowing 25.4 points and 320.1 total yards (114.7 rushing, 205.4 passing).
The Gila Monsters will feature the nation’s No. 1 rushing offense, which averaged 333.6 yards per game (90.6 percent of their total offense) and 6.5 yards per carry this season. Eastern Arizona is averaging 26.9 points per game and 367.7 total yards per game. Defensively EAC allows 19.1 points, 90.5 rushing yards and 118.5 passing yards per game.
