HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Through an interpreter, a 34-year-old Hutchinson man was before a judge Wednesday morning on a charge of interference with a law enforcement officer.

Inmer G. Mancias of 18 West 8th is alleged to have hidden in an attic when he saw a law enforcement officer arrive at his residence.

Eric Merino also had a warrant and both went into the home converted in apartments and were found hiding in the attic. This occurring back on Nov. 21.

Both men had warrants for failing to appear in another case where they’re both charged with aggravated battery and aggravated burglary.

The two men are alleged to have entered a home in the 3800 block of West 7th uninvited and severely battered the occupant.

When law enforcement went to make an arrest on a warrant for that case, Merino allegedly gave a false name and also resisted being arrested. He claims it was the way the officers approached him that gave him pause saying they had their hands on their guns. This occurring back on June 18.

The cases against the two men will now move to a future waiver-status docket.
