SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 30-year-old man was arrested after a traffic stop Saturday in South Hutchinson made a first appearance Monday on some felonies as well as a number a traffic charges.

Jonathan Beer faces potential charges of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute and for personal uses, operating a vehicle without insurance, expired license plate, illegal display of license plate, driving while an habitual violator and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon. He claimed in court, he didn’t know the gun was in the vehicle. The tag on the vehicle actually belonged to another vehicle and was expired.

The arrest coming in the 600 block of North Main in South Hutchinson just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

Beer has previous convictions for aggravated battery and aggravated assault for a case back in 2013.

Judge Joe McCarville agreed to lower his bond to $7,500 and he will be back in court next week to hear any formal charges.
