Reno County Commission meeting talks proposed tower

Reno County Courthouse 12

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Commission went through its agenda quickly Tuesday. The only item up for consideration is a public hearing for a zoning request for Maxx LLC for a conditional use permit to construct a 150-foot-tall monopole telecommunications tower for the purpose of providing high-speed internet services for rural areas of northwest Reno County.

The tower would be located at 82nd and Pennington, northwest of Hutchinson, and will provide the internet service within a five-mile area of the tower. That would include the Highlands area.

No one was at the hearing to oppose the building of the tower. County Planner Mark Vonachen told the commission there were two area residents at the planning commission meeting over the proposed tower and both were in favor.

The commission made no decision on the matter, but is expected to take final action next week.
