HUTCHINSON, Kan. – An 18-year-old Hutchinson man was back before a judge Monday where he was read the charges against him after he was found inside the home of a Rice County Sheriff Deputy.

Charges against Rowdy Doherty include aggravated burglary, two counts of auto burglary, two counts of theft and criminal damage to property.

One of the vehicles broken into reportedly belonged to the deputy who reported that she came downstairs in her home in the 3200 block of Nutmeg and found Doherty in her home. She took him into custody and search his pockets and found the keys to her vehicle and a pair of eye glasses and silver metal lighter. He is also alleged to have damaged a garage door and the walls inside the garage.

He remains jailed on a $5,000 bond and the case now moves to a waiver-status docket.
