HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a burglary and animal cruelty case.

A 67-year-old woman had reported Thursday that her home in the 5300 block of East 4th was broken into and items were stolen. She also says her dog was cut up by the intruder or intruders, causing serious injury to the animal.

Her son told deputies he saw two individuals leave the residence. One was described as being a white male wearing gray clothing and the other a Hispanic male wearing all black. They were seen in a green car possibly with an Oklahoma tag. That according to Reno County Sheriff Capt. Steve Lutz.

The son who is paraplegic followed them and they stopped near 4th & Obee Road. He then went on past them and they then began to follow him. They allegedly bumped his vehicle, causing him to lose control. His vehicle rolled over on East 4th.

The investigation into the burglary and animal cruelty case is ongoing and Lutz says they have a detective following up on the case, but no arrests have been made.
