Three people were taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Monday after a two trucks collided at 43rd & Plum in Hutchinson.

21-year-old Jonathan Likes of 704 West 36th was issued a citation for running a stop sign. His vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Gregory Keenan of Great Bend. Likes and his passenger, 21-year-old Taylor Albright of Hutchinson were both transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and released. Keenan was taken to the hospital with head and neck injuries and was kept overnight for observation.

One of the trucks in the accident ended up on the southeast corner of the intersection, not far from a Kwik Shop parking lot and took out a fire hydrant that was on that corner. That means city crews were called to make the necessary repairs to the hydrant. The other vehicle ended up on the north side of 43rd in the north ditch.

Two separate ambulances were called to the scene, but one came a little later because of multiple emergency calls coming in about the same time.

At one point, they were diverting vehicles through the Kwik Shop parking lot, but later shut off traffic both ways on Plum further to the south. They also has 43rd completely closed from the beginning, mainly because that’s where most of the emergency vehicles parked at the scene.
