Edna Yoder, 105, of South Hutchinson, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Mennonite Friendship Communiti- es. She was born June 28, 1911, in rural Haven, the daughter of Andrew and Fannie (Bontrager) Bontrager.
She attended Laurel School, was a member of Journey at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, belonged to the Kansas Centenarian Society and was a homemaker.
On Sept. 10, 1933, she married Orie W. Yoder at Yoder Mennonite Church. He died March 3, 1983. She is survived by: her children, Delbert of Elkhart, Ind., Freda Kauffman (Glen) of South Hutchinson, Wayne of Hutchinson, and Lloyd (Rebecca) of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Carl (Jenny) Yoder of Goshen, Ind., Karen Divine (Phil) of South Bend, Ind., James Yoder (Anna) of Elkhart, Ind., Mark Kauffman (Cris) of Hutchinson, Christine Yoder Mulkey (Kent) of Eudora, Melanie Yoder Hardy (Joe) of Lawrence, Rep. Kevin Yoder (Brooke) of Overland Park, Travis Yoder (Michelle) of Dallas, Texas, Kimberly Yoder of Tampa, Fla.; 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her siblings, Barbara Chupp, Mary Miller, Anna Yoder, Fannie Troyer, Mattie Gingerich, Amelia Bontrager, Ida Schrock, Edward, William, Clarence, Andrew, David and Enos Bontrager; daughter-in-law, Betty Yoder; granddaughter, Glenda Kauffman Darby; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nora Kate Kauffman and Baby Kauffman.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Journey at Yoder Mennonite Church, with Pastors Howard Wagler, Bryant Kauffman and Eric Miller presiding. Burial will follow in the Yoder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mennonite Friendship Communities Chapel, South Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mennonite Friendship Communities, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
